If you’ve already found yourself searching “What’s happening for Halloween in Johnston County this year?”, save this guide.

I pulled together some of the Halloween fun happening around JoCo so you can spend less time searching through event pages and more time actually making plans.

There’s something here for little trick-or-treaters, families looking for an easy hometown celebration, and even the brave ones who actually want to be scared.

Here are some 2026 Johnston County Halloween events worth putting on your calendar.

Start the Season at JoCo Pumpkin Fest

Before Halloween weekend arrives, JoCo Community Market & Pumpkin Fest is happening Saturday, October 17 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Ronnie’s Berry Farm in Angier.

Along with the community market, you’ll find pumpkin-themed fun and a pumpkin pie contest.

This is an easy way to enjoy the season before costumes and candy completely take over October.

Best for: Families looking for festive fall fun without anything too spooky.

An Inclusive Halloween Celebration: Clayton Boo Bash

Clayton Parks and Recreation is bringing back its annual Boo Bash at the Clayton Community Center on Friday, October 23.

This Halloween celebration is specifically designed for individuals with developmental and/or physical disabilities and their families.

Expect costumes, music, activities and a welcoming environment where families can enjoy Halloween together.

Best for: Families looking for an inclusive and accessible Halloween celebration.

For the Brave Ones: Clayton Fear Farm

If your Halloween plans need a little more screaming than candy collecting, Clayton Fear Farm opens October 2 and has multiple nights scheduled throughout October, including Halloween night.

The 2026 attractions include:

  • Haunted Hayride
  • Farmhouse
  • Slaughterhouse
  • Blackhole

General admission is currently listed at $25 for all attractions, with free parking.

Location: 1620 Loop Road, Clayton

This one is definitely geared more toward older kids, teens and adults who genuinely enjoy being scared.

Little Ones Will Love Main Street Trick-or-Treat

For younger children, Clayton Main Street Trick-or-Treat is scheduled for Friday, October 30 from 1–3 p.m.

Families can begin at Horne Square and make their way along Main Street as participating businesses hand out candy.

After trick-or-treating, Town Square will also have games, activities and a petting zoo.

Because it happens during the day, this is a particularly nice option for preschool-aged children and families who would rather skip the scarier side of Halloween.

Best for: Younger children and families looking for daytime Halloween fun.

Head to Benson for Hallofest

Benson’s Hallofest: A Trunk or Treat Event on Main Street is happening Friday, October 30 from 6:30–8:30 p.m.

Expect costumes, decorated vehicles and plenty of candy during this community trunk-or-treat event.

If you’re looking for a simple hometown Halloween evening where the kids can dress up, walk around and fill their buckets, this is one to save.

Halloween Night in Four Oaks

Four Oaks is celebrating on Saturday, October 31 with Halloween on Main, beginning at 5:30 p.m.

Families can trick-or-treat along Main Street while participating vehicles help create a community trunk-or-treat experience.

There’s something special about those simple small-town Halloween traditions, especially when you get to enjoy them alongside friends and neighbors.

Something Completely Different: Halloween Havoc

Not every Halloween event has to involve a pumpkin patch or downtown trick-or-treating.

Halloween Havoc at Darana Motorsports Park in Benson is scheduled for October 29–31, beginning at noon each day.

The event combines motorsports with Halloween fun, including trick-or-treating.

So if your family loves racing as much as costumes and candy, this gives you a completely different option for Halloween weekend.

One More Halloween-Day Option in Clayton

Clayton also has Haunted Harvest scheduled for Saturday, October 31 from noon–8 p.m. at Horne Square.

The free event brings together a music festival and market atmosphere with local craft vendors, food, children’s activities and plenty of Halloween spirit downtown.

This could be a fun way to spend part of Halloween day before heading out for evening trick-or-treating.

Which Halloween Event Fits Your Family?

That may be one of my favorite things about celebrating fall in Johnston County.

Your Halloween weekend can look completely different depending on what your family enjoys.

You might spend an afternoon trick-or-treating with little ones, head downtown for a community celebration, brave a haunted attraction with teenagers, or simply find somewhere fun to wear those costumes everyone has been talking about for weeks.

And you don’t have to travel far to do it.

Save This Before October Gets Busy

Halloween weekend always seems farther away than it really is.

One minute you’re noticing the first decorations in the stores, and the next someone is asking where the costume is, what time trick-or-treating starts and what everyone is doing that night.

So save this guide now, send it to another Johnston County family, and start putting your favorites on the calendar.

There’s plenty happening right here in JoCo, and sometimes the best memories come from simply getting out, seeing neighbors and enjoying the season together.

One quick planning note: Event details can change as October gets closer, so always check the organizer’s latest information before heading out.
